On May 21st the meeting devoted to the 142nd anniversary of the end of the Russian-Caucasian war took place in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria Nalchik near the monument to its victims.
After the introductory speech of the head of the national public organization “Adyghe Khase” (organization loyal to the authorities) Muhamed Hafitse who named consequences of the Russian-Caucasian war positive, in particular, told that “subsequently Russia made much for the cultural and economic development of Adygeyan people, and for that they are very grateful to Russia”. Then the microphone was taken by the senior lecturer of Kabardino-Balkarian state university Jury Shanibov.
Shanibov declared that now there is the second war against Caucasus. In Jury Shanibov’s opinion, Moslems “killed on October 13th of the last year, were innocent. They only prayed, were against drunkenness and narcotism which became the national problem, but they were mistreated and compelled to take up arms to liquidate them”. Some persons in the civilian clothes tried to take away the microphone from Shanibov’s hands, but participants of the meeting stood up for him.
