Kabardino-Balkaria offers two investment projects

At the meeting Vladimir Putin planned in the end of August with participation of potential Russian investors and heads of the Northern Caucasian republics, Kabardino-Balkaria presented two projects – construction of a micro-hydroelectric power station in Sarmakovo and building of a recreational complex “Dendropark “The Narts’ Land” in Urvansky area of KBR, they informed IА REGNUM correspondent in the press-service of the president and the government of the republic.

The initiator of the meeting was the plenipotentiary of the president in the Southern federal district Dmitry Kozak who would mediate in the negotiations. Kozak had analyzed basically the projects in which local authorities were ready to concede the control share holdings of the enterprises or the land sites in exchange for investments. The total cost of the projects varied from 300 million up to 3 billion rubles, they noted in the press-service. The management of the republic pays great attention to the water-power engineering development. KBR’s electric power possibilities today make less than 30 percent. Thus in Kabardino-Balkaria there are all the conditions for construction of own hydroelectric power station. First of all, they mean abundance of the mountain rivers in the republic. Construction of Sarmakovo mini-hydroelectric power station, which would cost for investors 770 million rubles, is one of the projects of the kind implemented in the republic. The republic is ready to transfer the control share holding of the enterprise (75 percent) to the investor. In case of realization of the program of construction of hydropower stations Kabardino-Balkaria could provide not only its own needs and considerably lower tariffs for electric power, but also sell energy to neighbouring regions.

The second project was the ethnographic complex “Narts’ Land”. The project received the “bronze” award of the international competition “Architecture-2004” in “Landscape architecture” nomination. The needed investments are 200 million rubles; the outlay recovery time of the project – 5 years. Thus 100 percent of share holding of the object would be transferred to the investor.
