Ecologists urge Governor of Krasnodar Territory to preserve Utrish

Today, the office of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory has registered an appeal to the Governor of the Territory Alexander Tkachov, in which ecologists demand to stop felling the Utrish. The appeal was accompanied by the signatures that ecologists managed to gather in the course of the picket held near the administration under the motto: “Save Utrish!”

“The decision to address the Governor was caused by the fact that according to documents the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory had ordered and coordinated the project leading to destruction of wild nature of Utrish,” Andrei Rudomakha, coordinator of the Ecological Watch, has explained to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

On December 18, in the “Bolshoi Utrish” Nature Reserve, Anapa District of the Krasnodar Territory, despite numerous protest actions, the construction works in Sukko-Utrish highway and felling of relic trees continued. The novelty of the day was the layout made by geodesists, presumably, of the object, to which the road is running.

“Only by the end of the following day, after continuous ‘storm’ organized by ecologists, the law enforcement bodies sealed up the equipment,” said Mr Rudomakha, head of the Ecological Watch. “Awhile, this new suspension of road works is in force.”
