A Statement From “Circassian Culture And Human Rights Center”

With the persistence of the preparations for holding the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games on the site that had witnessed total destruction of the major infrastructure elements of the entire indigenous Circassian nation, that extended to all walks of life, including culture, language, social, economy and other sectors that touched the very survival of the human beings, which continued through implementation of massacres, genocide, ethnic cleansing and deportation, the Circassian Culture And Human Rights Center (CCAHRC) is emphasizing that the spirit of freedom is eternal, and the confiscated rights should be restored in accordance with legitimacy and civilized ways and means.

(CCAHRC) in coordination with all those who support freedom, who adopt and adore human values call and demand that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) should follow the applicable laws and norms concerning the rights of oppressed peoples, and to avoid involving itself and the international community in persecution and oppression. The failure to comply with laws that pertain to conditions required to meet the standards of holding important Olympic Games, would be in the interest of supporting the humanitarian consequences of military occupation.

The Circassians appreciate initiatives taken by the Caucasian Republic of Georgia, which confirm the fact that Sochi is a Circassian homeland that was subjected to genocide, and will remember a debt of gratitude to the Georgian nation, for recognizing the Circassian Genocide and all its consequences which created and sustained damage that has plagued the entire Circassian nation. Circassians highly appreciate the brotherly Georgian support, which emerged by the most recent important and brotherly initiative that was taken by His Excellency, President Mikhail Sakaashvili in his speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations, as he stated beside the Georgian remarkable achievements and principled positions pertaining to Caucasian concern, his strong historical remarks for mentioning the Circassian genocide: “one of the most unknown and tragic pages of history of the world, when the whole nation was wiped out because their land was needed by the Russian Empire”, which informed the world about the Circassian Genocide and all its consequences.

The Circassians are satisfied to say that the Dzhigit Circassians who were an interrelated link between Circassians and Georgians, will be a symbol when all the peoples and nations of the Caucasus unite and join unified concerted efforts with a view to lay and to devote the foundations for future coordination for self-preservation, freedom and independence, for overall development and protection of national dignity away from acquisition.

“Help one another, for we are all in the same boat”.

Long live Circassia,

Long live Georgia,

Long live freedom.
