On Day of Circassian Language, Tbilisi hosts presentation of Adyg writer’s book

On March 14, on the Day of Circassian Language, the Circassian (Adyg) Cultural Centre presented in Tbilisi the reprinted edition of the book “Kortaneti Stories” written by Mikhail Lokhvitsky, a Soviet writer, an ethnic Circassian. In the book, the writer tells the readers about the life of one of the Georgian villages. According to Merab Chukhua, Director of the Centre, the value of Mikhail Lokhvitsky’s works is great both for Georgia and for the Circassian world.

Let us remind you that the Day of Circassian (Adyg) Language is celebrated on March 14. Its goal is to preserve the Adyg culture and Adyg speech. The Circassian Cultural Centre was created by the special decree of the Georgian President in 2011, and every year, the Centre holds themed events on that day. In 2012, on the Day of Circassian (Adyg) Language, an exhibition of the Circassian book and paintings of Circassian artist Teuchezh Kat was held in Tbilisi; and in 2013, the presentation of the “Circassian Guide” was held.
