Today, the recognition by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament) of the Circassian Genocide stands as a testament to Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and solidarity with oppressed peoples of the former Russian empire.
The voices of the Circassians, silenced by centuries of injustice, now echo powerfully through the halls of our Parliament. This act is more than a recognition; it is a beacon of moral courage and a reaffirmation of our shared humanity and historical justice. Ukraine has always understood the devastating pain of a catastrophe that Circassians have endured and the immense strength required to confront it till nowadays. In standing with the Circassian people today, we honor not only their profound resilience but also our sacred duty to uphold justice for all.
Let this moment serve as a bridge—a bridge of hope, memory, and unity—between the Ukrainian and Circassian peoples. Together, we reaffirm the unyielding principle that atrocities committed by Russia, no matter how distant in time, will not be erased, forgotten, or ignored.
