War at the cost of enslaved nations: Circassian activists warn of mobilization pressure

The Circassian regions of the KBR, KCR, and Adygea report the arrival of additional Russian troops tasked with forcibly recruiting local residents into the army for deployment to the front in Ukraine. Lawyers advise on social media to avoid contact as long as possible and, if cornered, to refuse any. In the KBR alone, the goal is to forcibly mobilise at least 3,500 people. One mother reported that her son had disappeared from university, only to receive a summons two weeks later that he had died in Ukraine. She claims that he was kidnapped by recruiters and sent to the front without consent. Leaving Russia is not an option for most, and resisting Russian forces in the Caucasus is traditionally called “extremism” and “terrorism.” Russia intends to kill three birds with one stone: eliminate the Circassians, feed its war machine, and sow discord between the Ukrainian and Circassian peoples, both victims of its genocidal wars.
