The Circassians’ Sacred Duty
The different issues of the “Circassian Question” are equally important to be addressed, which have been tackled and taken care of by the Circassian communities in different degrees, whether at homeland in the North Caucasus or in the extended wide geographical Diaspora in the world.
Defending dignity, truth and honor is always the duty of those highly dignified and honorable people, and those who don’t know the meaning of dignity, do not appreciate freedom, self respect and national pride. As dignity is one of the most important elements of the Circassian personality, politeness is a sign of dignity and respect. Albert Einstein said: “If I were to remain silent, I’d be guilty of complicity”.
Sincere Circassians in their places of residence have reviewed and addressed all aspects of the Circassian Question and accordingly have exerted their efforts and active roles in order to explain the Circassian plight starting from the devastating war against the Circassian homeland, reaching to all the consequences which included and not limited to genocide, ethnic cleansing, deportation & exile, loss of language and culture, denial of basic human rights, and disavowal of indigenous peoples’ rights by the consecutive Russian regimes and governments!
Sharing and raising the Circassian concerns is not limited to and/or manipulated by certain individuals, groups, Diaspora communities or homeland communities! It is the duty of all Circassians in all their locations until regaining and restoring their legal and legitimate rights by civilized and nonviolent methods. As it is the TOPIC OF ALL, it is accordingly the DUTY OF ALL, for everyone within the lawful capability to do what is possible within the legal and acceptable frame work, in order to move in all directions and levels through holding conferences, gatherings, meetings, lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, press conferences, statements, appeals, reaching to direct contacts with international human rights organizations, regional blocs, United Nations, international assemblies and administrations, and friendly countries. Those who want to stay in a deep dormant would apply to them what Norman Peale has said: “Don’t take tomorrow to bed with you”!
Therefore, the only allowed move should have only one direction to proceed, which makes Circassians exert their efforts to end all the negative consequences of the tragedies of their catastrophic circumstances with a solid Circassian framework that depends on confirming the Circassian identity within a self-denial and transparent national agenda that precludes accepting any ambitious “proxy”, and type of propaganda that is published publicly or circulated for the interest of those who deny the Circassian inalienable rights, to spread in the Circassian World by certain tools and individuals whether they claim that they are Circassians or non-Circassians.
Navigation and steering against the Circassian interests is not acceptable in any way, and the insistence of anyone to continue on scattering and puffing aggressive and poisonous propaganda, lies and rumors here or there will not be tolerated. Those who are recognized and identified will be held legally responsible of spreading subversive misinformation and preventing Circassians from restoring their legitimate rights that coincides with the interests of the usurpers, who are maintaining the same imperial interests and policies of denial, intimidation, neglect, assimilation, harassment, and maintaining the status quo.
The spontaneous commemoration of the end of the Russian-Circassian war on the 21st of May of every year, which reminds of the past to manage the present and plan for the future, is an obligation that the majority of Circassians will not stop doing whether Russia and its allies like it or not. Circassians knew after experience that: “If You Want Something Done Right, Do it yourself”.
The real Circassians are the grandchildren of those heroes who stood steadfastly for 101 years defending their very survival and homeland, who had never accepted to bend in front of the Tsarist Russian invaders. The sincere descendants believe, “Actions Speak Louder than Words” and in Confucius saying: “The Superior Man is Modest in his Speech, but Exceeds in his Actions”.
