In Tbilisi, Will Present “Cultural Center Of The Circassians”

23412Today in the Georgian capital, in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the presentation ceremony of the Cultural Center of Circassians will be held. As reported by the GHN, the Centre for Circassian culture was created by special order of the President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili. The document was signed on October 12, 2011. The Cultural Center of Circassians will work under the Georgian Ministry of Culture.

As expected, the presentation of the Centre will be attended by Minister of Culture and National Heritage Nicholas Rurua, Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Papuna Davitaia, as well as chairman of the Committee on Diaspora Affairs and the Caucasus Georgian parliament Nugzar Tsiklauri.

Recall, March 20, the Georgian parliament adopted a decision on the recognition of the genocide of the Circassian people from Russia in 19th century.

All 95 MPs voted for this. Representatives of the parliamentary majority has stated that this decision is a restoration of “historic justice”.

The document stated the “designed” nature of Russian massacres and forced resettlement of the Circassians in 19th century.

November 25, the winner of the contest for the memorial in honor of representatives of Circassian people, who have been victims of “genocide” by the Russian Empire, will be declared.

Representatives of the State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Papuna Davitaia also reported that not only the winner will receive a prize, but also two of the project, which took second and third places. The authors of the best works will get ten, three or one thousand dollars as a reward.

Earlier, representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Diaspora Affairs reported that the competition will be international.

The decision to erect a memorial has already been taken by the Parliament of the Republic.
