The Circassian National Movement
The “Circassian National Movement” (CNM), emanated from the “Jordan Association of Caucasus Circassian Friends” (JACCF) wishes to announce publicly its refusal to the entry of the so-called Olympic Flame representing the Winter Olympic Games to Circassia, which was ignited recently, for planned games to be held in (2014), in Sochi, the Circassian occupied land, and the last Circassian resistance stronghold against the Russian invasion and occupation, but the glow of the torch of Sawsroqa, the Circassian hero in the Circassian mythology who roved Circassia with it, still shines in Circassia, the historic homeland of the Circassians, and the embers of its fire is in the heart of every Circassian, which reminds of the ancient days of the Circassians where Circassia was free and proud in the games that were held in Athens, in the early days of the Olympics.
This event should remind people of the world about the genocide crime carried out by the Tsarist Russian military forces against the Circassian nation, the occupation of the whole Circassian national territory in the year (1864) and the deportation of the rest to all parts of the world.
Sochi is neither to the Russians nor to others. Sochi is for Circassians and the land of the Circassian Genocide, which should remind of the Circassians and their tragedy when that flame passes through the different countries and territories. Sochi belongs neither to the Russians nor to others. The Circassian Question which is dear to every Circassian was highlighted by the President of the Republic of Georgia, H.E. President Mikhail Saakashvili’s address at the General Assembly of the United Nations, when he stated the facts of the Circassian Genocide in front of world leaders for the first time, and mentioned that the Georgian Parliament has recognized the genocide committed by Russian forces against the Circassian nation, a gesture received favorably by all freedom loving Circassian people around the world.
The Circassian national movement stresses that Circassia is the historic homeland of the Circassians and will remain as such; it declares openly that the momentum to restore the Circassian rights has taken a remarkable dimension with this Georgian President’s step, when he transferred the Circassian Question to the international arena. The CNM is fully confident that this step will be followed also by future steps until the full restoration of the usurped Circassian rights.
