Bugün, Gürcistan Parlamentosunun Çerkes Soykırımı’nın ve Çerkes ulusunun bilinen ve ait olduğu anavatanından zorla sürgün edilmesinin ve anavatanından başka bir anavatanı olmayan bu milletin binlerce yıllık anavatanının tanınmasının onuncu yıldönümü anıldı.
21 Mayıs 1864’ten bugüne kadarki hiçbir duruma denk veya paralel olmayan bu güvenilmez zamanda bu anmanın kalpler ve akıllar için kıymetli olduğu bugün burada söylenebilir.
Profesör Merab Çukhua’ya Çerkes Soykırımı üzerine sunduğu “Çerkes Soykırımı – Sorunun Tarihi, Olayların Günlükleri, Bilimsel Sonuç” başlıklı araştırması için teşekkür ederiz. [1]
Çerkes diasporasının temsilcilerinin katılımıyla,
Gürcistan Parlamentosu, kasıtlı kıtlık ve salgınların da eşlik ettiği Çerkes soykırımını oybirliğiyle kabul etti. 20 Mayıs 2011’de başkent Tiflis’te düzenlenen ve dört uzman parlamento komitesinin tavsiye ettiği oturumda “bunu onaylamadan sonra”.

– İnsan Hakları ve Sivil Entegrasyon Komitesi.
– Eğitim, Bilim ve Kültür Komitesi.

Tanınma, makul bir şüphenin ötesinde, Kafkasya’nın başka bir halkının yaşadığı trajedilerin, Rusya İmparatorluğu’nun sömürge hırslarını yerine getirmek için işgal, ilhak ve yerleşim yerleri inşası açısından arzuladığı rüya, birden fazla türde ve başlıktaki iğrenç ırkçılığın uygulanması ve gerçekleştirilmesi gibi işlenen suçların bir sonucu olarak adaletsizliğe uğramış halklar arasında sinerji yarattığını doğruladı.
Bu gerçekler, yakın ve uzaktaki kalleşliği andırıyor, özellikle her zaman göstermekten çok saklayacak daha çok şeye sahip olan ülkelerde.
Özellikle Birleşmiş Milletler üyesi ve Kafkasya’nın bağımsız cumhuriyetlerinden birinin, Rus İmparatorluğu’nun orduları ve paralı askerleri tarafından Çerkes milletine karşı yapılan ve Çerkes halkının yaşadığı trajedileri onaylayan soykırım, etnik temizlik ve zorla sınır dışı etme suçlarını tanıması ve bu acı hatıranın anılması Çerkes Sorunu’nun sonucundaki önemine yakışıyor.
Rus İmparatorluğunun bütün bir ulusa karşı işlediği suçlar tanınmalıdır. Doğru ile yanlış arasındaki mücadele ebedidir ve hakikat galip gelecektir.
Nihayetinde Çerkesler meşru haklarına kavuşacaklar.
Bu anlamda Theodor Roosevelt’in sözlerine kulak verelim.
“Herhangi bir karar anında yapabileceğiniz en iyi şey doğru bir şey yapmaktır, bir sonraki en iyi şey yanlış bir şey yapmaktır ve yapabileceğiniz en kötü şey ise hiç bir şey yapmamaktır” [3]

The Tenth Anniversary of Circassian Genocide Recognition
Today marks the tenth commemoration of the anniversary of the Georgian Parliament’s recognition of the Circassian Genocide and the forcible displacement of the Circassian nation from its homeland that it knew and belonged to, as well as the homeland is recognized by this nation that didn’t have another homeland over thousands of years.
It can be said here on this day that this commemoration is dear to the hearts and minds in this treacherous time, which is not equal or parallel to any other occasion since May 21, 1864 until now. Thanks to the research presented by Professor Merab Chukhua on the Circassian Genocide entitled, “Circassian Genocide – the History of Problem, Chronicles of Events, the Scientific Conclusion.” [1]
With the presence of representatives of the Circassian Diaspora, the Georgian Parliament unanimously recognized the Circassian genocide, accompanied by deliberate famine and epidemics. “After verification” in its session held on May 20, 2011 in the capital, Tbilisi, where four specialized parliamentary committees recommended this, namely:
– Committee for Diaspora and Caucasus Issues.
– The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee.
– Education, Science and Culture Committee.
– Legal Issues Committee. [2]
The recognition has confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt that the tragedies suffered by another people of the Caucasus have created synergy between peoples who have suffered injustice, as a result of crimes committed in order to fulfill the colonial ambitions of the Russian Empire, which were nothing but the desired dream in terms of occupation, annexation and building settlements, in the implementation and realization of the abhorrent racism of multiple flavors and titles. These facts remind of treachery of near and far, especially the countries that have always had more to hide than to show.
The commemoration of this memory befits its importance on the outcome of the Circassian Question, especially since one of the independent republics of the Caucasus and a member of the United Nations recognizes the crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced deportation committed by the armies and mercenaries of the Russian Empire against the Circassian nation, and confirms the tragedies suffered by the Circassian people.
The crimes committed by the Russian Empire against an entire nation should be recognized. The struggle between right and wrong is eternal and truth will prevail. Ultimately, Circassians will regain their legitimate rights. In that sense, Theodore Roosevelt said: “In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”[3]
