كوتشيسوكوف، غولونوف شمال القوقاز ، يواجه عشر سنوات خلف القضبان

          ستاونتون، 28 يوليو/تموز — مارتن كوتشيسوكوف، الناشط الشركسي الذي اعتقل في نفس اليوم الذي اعتقل فيه الصحفي في موسكو إيفان غولونوف، يواجه عقوبة السجن لمدة تصل إلى عشر سنوات لأن السلطات وضعت في مقتنياته المخدرات كما فعلت مع غولونوف، لكن السلطات المفترضة لا تواجه المعارضة الموحدة التي واجهتها من قِبل زملاء غولونوف التي أجبرتها في نهاية المطاف على إسقاط التهم والإفراج عن غولونوف.

Kochesokov, the Golunov of the North Caucasus, Facing Ten Years Behind Bars

            Staunton, July 28 – Martin Kochesokov, the Circassian activist who was arrested on the same day as Moscow journalist Ivan Golunov now faces up to ten years in prison because the authorities planted drugs on him just as they did on Golunov but the powers that be do not face the united opposition of his colleagues that forced them to drop charges and release Golunov.

            In an interview yesterday, Kochesokov says that his tragedy and that of the Circassians is that Russian officials appointed by Moscow to run their affairs have gotten used to the idea that they can do anything they want, including make people simply disappear; and they are less responsive than officials in Moscow (meduza.io/feature/2020/07/27/esli-ne-sbavlyu-aktivnost-menya-voobsche-ne-naydut).             ستاونتون ، 29 يوليو/تموز — إن إقامة المزيد من النصب التذكارية للقوات القيصرية الغازية للقوقاز ”لا يمكن اعتباره أي شيء سوى انه ارتداد هائل للوعي الاستعماري الإمبراطوري“ من جانب الروس نظرًا لأنه يُحْيِي ذكرى الذين قَتلوا واحْتلوا الشعوب غير الروسية هناك، والذين ما زال أحفادهم يشعرون بالألم من تلك الأحداث حسبما تقول زاريما تسفييفا (Zarema Tsveyeva).

New Monuments to Tsarist Conquerors of Caucasus ‘a Relapse of Imperial Colonial Consciousness,’ Tseyeva Says

            Staunton, July 29 – The erection of ever more monuments to tsarist conquerors of the Caucasus “cannot be seen as anything but a massive relapse of imperial colonial consciousness” on the part of Russians given that it celebrates those who killed and occupied the non-Russian peoples there whose descendants still feel pain from those events, Zarema Tsveyeva says.
