An influential Swedish newspaper, Sveska Dagbladet, published a commentary by its political analyst Daniel Persson under the title “Russian democracy refers both to Syria and Moscow (Rysk demokratisyn drabbar både Syrien och Moskva)”. The Swedish journalist states in particular:

“Russia blocked a UN Security Council resolution against the Syria’s government. Putin justified the veto saying that it is the Syrian people who should decide what happens in the country.

It should be asked why Putin, who believes that the rest of the world is not to interfere into his massacre inside in Russia, has been arming the Assad’s regime for many years.

Recently, Russian sources leaked information about a new contract, signed between the two countries, on delivery of Russian arms to Syria worth $ 5 billion. On one hand, Putin called for the non-intervention, and the other, he supplies the Assad’s regime with weapons.

The events in Russia are also interesting. Cheating and buying votes for the March 4 presidential polls have become a reality.

Anyone who votes for Putin is promised a free breakfast or 400 Swedish crowns. Especially well-paid are people who work for Putin for the whole day. Enforcers will come to many polling stations and force the people to vote for Putin. In Putin’s Russia, no one is punished for that.

Energy is a Russia’s political weapon. Now it is used quite openly. At the end of the week, Gazprom cut gas supplies to Europe, in the period of extreme cold weather.

According to the Russians, the gas supply was reduced by 10%. However, Austrian and French representatives say that the volume of cuts amounts to 30%, and Italy reported on Thursday of reduction by 24%, as compared to the normal level.

This could be understood as a signal: “Do not meddle in our affairs!”.

That is why such meddling is now more important than ever”, Sveska Dagbladet writes.
