A Statement From “Justice For North Caucasus Group”

In the light of the feverish and tireless intentions of the Russian authorities in extending all acquired material, moral and media potentials to hold inexpedient public relations exhibition events in the vicinity of a brutal genocide of an ancient people with a sin loving and adoring own homeland, all freedom loving people are requested to show their support to efforts opposing to hold such absurd behavior on the land of others, which contains the tombs and the graves of those who perished while they were defending their own homeland.

“Justice For North Caucasus Group”, is expressing anger and refusal to hold the Winter Olympiad in Sochi, because that reminds of genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced deportation committed by the Tsarist Russian military forces against the indigenous and deeply rooted Circassian nation, especially that the games are held in Sochi, which was the last capital city of “Free Circassia” before it was entirely occupied in 21, May, 1864.

The friendly gestures initiated by the Caucasian Republic of Georgia will not be forgotten by the Circassian people, namely the Georgian Parliament’s recognition of the Circassian Genocide and founding the “Circassian Genocide Monument” in Anklia on the Black Sea where Circassian Deportees were gathered during the Russian-Circassian War to be deported across the Black Sea to the Ottoman Empire.

Circassians appreciated initiatives taken by Georgia, which confirm that Sochi is a Circassian land that was subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing, as Georgia is aware that the Dzhigeti Circassians had lived in an area extended from historical Circassia to Western Georgia.

Thanks for the Georgian support particularly President Mikhail Saakashvili’s sincere words towards Circassians at the General Assembly of the United Nations. He affirmed that the Georgian Parliament had recognized the Circassian Genocide, which encourages Circassians to strive for restoring their legitimate rights, as hope springs eternally.
