The presentation of the project of the World Circassian Games was held in Turkey

The motto of the Circassian Games 2012 “good is good” was also voiced in Turkish: “iyilik, iyilik getirir”. On October 18 in Ankara, the project “Circassian Games-2012” was presented, which resulted in an agreement to open a representative office of the World Circassian Olympic Games in Turkey.

One of the authors of the project, Sufyan Zhemukhov, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the presentation was attended by the presidents of Circassian organizations – Adyghe Khase, of which there are 65 in Turkey. Alexey Bekshokov, chairman of the Union of Abkhaz Volunteers, was also present at the presentation.

The presentation was held in the Circassian language and translated into Turkish by Tugan Kushkha, a famous performer of Circassian songs, Zhemukhov said. According to him, he told the Circassian leaders of Turkey that the authors of the project had already held seven presentations, the last of which took place in the United States, and the previous six in Russian cities, including St. Petersburg, Moscow and Sochi.

“Of particular interest was the demonstration of twelve Circassian champions in Olympic sports, of which five played for Turkey (J. Dogu, T. Yuchel, H. Kaplan, M. Atalay, M. Dagdalan), and seven from Russia (M. Kirzhinov, B. Shukhov, E. Akhaminova, H. Tletseri, M. Kardanov, B. Makhov, A. Khushtov) “, – says Zhemukhov.

As Zhemukhov noted, during the presentation, Cihan Jantemir, President of the Federation of Circassian Organizations of Turkey (KAFFED) said that an annual congress of Circassian organizations in Turkey will be held in December, the agenda of which includes consideration of organizational issues of the Circassian Games.

Alexey Bekshokov drew the attention of the audience to the unique opportunities that the “Circassian 2012” will provide in terms of uniting the Circassian people. He expressed confidence that the current Russian policy towards sports will contribute to this. “When the final of the Champions League football cup was held in Russia, the country’s leadership created conditions for the visa-free entry of British fans to Russia,” he said.

The presentation was attended by Gazanfer Dogu, Vice-Rector of the University. Izzet Baisal, son of the famous wrestler Yashar Dogu (Olympic champion in 1952). He drew attention to two aspects of the preparation of the Circassian Games.

“Firstly, it is necessary to coordinate the timing of our games with the London Summer Olympics, so that the Circassian athletes of Russia and Turkey have time to rest after the London Olympics and take part in the Circassian. Secondly, the International Olympic Committee strictly monitors the use of the word“ Olympic ”, and therefore it is important to clearly indicate that the name of our event is the term “Circassian”, and the expression “Circassian Olympic Games” is its interpretation, by analogy with the Maccabiah – the Jewish Olympic Games, “he said.

Adnan Ozdemir, president of the public organization Adyghe Khase of Marash city noted that at the next congress of the Circassian organizations of Turkey it is necessary to create a structure under KAFFED, which would be a branch of the organizing committee “Circassiada 2012” and was engaged in the preparation of the games.

Ugur Apish, a sports teacher, a member of Adyghe Khase of Ankara, supported one of the main principles of the project, which is based on participation in sports delegations, along with the Circassians from all over the world, also representatives of the peoples with whom the Circassians live in their homeland and in the diaspora.

On the day of the presentation, the authors of the project met with Fares Mufti, the Ambassador of Jordan to Turkey. The authors of the project informed the Jordanian ambassador that the next presentation of the World Circassian Games project will be held in Jordan. Fares Mufti, for his part, expressed interest in the idea of holding the World Circassian Games.

The authors of the project in an informal setting also met with Yashar Aslankaya, chairman of Adyghe Khase of Ankara (KAFDER), vice-president of Eurokhase, and discussed the participation of Circassians living in Europe in the Circassian Games. Also, negotiations were held on the compliance of the principles of organizing the Circassiada with the statutory provisions of KAFFED with Professor Erol Taymaz, vice-president of KAFFED.

One of the results of the presentation in Turkey was an agreement to open a representative office of the “Circassiada 2012” in Ankara, which will be headed by Metin Senmez, author of the “Circassian World” website.

As the “Caucasian Knot” previously reported, the Circassiada project envisages holding the World Circassian Olympic Games in 2012 for 12 days in 12 sports. The head of the organizing committee of the International Olympic Games “Sochi-2014” Dmitry Chernyshenko, earlier, in response to an appeal from the organizers of the Circassian Olympics, said that this project could be included in the component of “Sochi-2014” if its authors “are confident that the World The Circassian Games will work for interethnic harmony. ”
