The Homeland of the Adygas / Poem

“Adygeya” is one of the ancient nations

Its civilization was of the world’s finest

Its mountains are snow-white

Its people are beautifully configured

The homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful native-land

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

Its forests are wavy like the seas

Its rivers are abundant and fresh

Its orchards are in beautiful bloom

The whole place was wonderful

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

When we were in “Adygeya”

living together as one community

Our lives were admired by strangers

Our regime was a source of pride for our friends

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

They treated each other with respect

They inherited the heritage from their ancestors

We lived and appreciated each other

The world considered us a noble people

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

We welcome and honor our guests

We raise our sword to those who hurt us

We undermined the foundations of Russia’s armies

We fought it for a hundred years

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

When our ancestors were displaced

They fled the warmth of their homeland

They left us with empty hands

Scattered far apart on in the world

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother

Who wishes not to get lost

It is the only way before us

The return of our old and young to the ancestral land

Come on, if we are worthy of life

O homeland of the Adygas … our beautiful homeland

Don’t lose us … our beautiful mother
